iOS, Android & Windows Scam + how to fix it!

iOS, Android & Windows Scam + how to fix it!

Supposedly UK iOS, Android & Windows phone users are now being targeted by scam artists! These websites appear to block your phone and demand that you ring an 0800 number (often ending in 6211, 4895 or 3684) to unlock your device (at a cost of £50).

See below on how you can get rid of the error/scam.

Please pass on to those less tech savvy than you.

  • Press the Home button to exit Safari (web browser)
  • Turn on Airplane Mode in settings
  • Look for Safari (or web browser) settings and clear internet browsing cookies (Safari) or go to privacy > clear cookies, site data (Chrome)
  • Re-open web browser and pop-up should have gone
  • Turn off airplane mode
