Xbox introduces Cross Network Play (e.g. Xbox Gamers Vs PC Gamers) but will Sony follow?

Microsoft has announced that ANY game could be played on Xbox against PC & PS4 gamers. Finally allowing for mates with different consoles to play the same games together HOWEVER Sony haven’t announced any integration YET.

The problem will be if Sony decides against the decision, which wouldn’t surprise us considering the long domination Sony had in the latest console battle.

This would give us all better value for money with our existing consoles, a welcome change.

The Microsoft announcement:

“In addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well,” ID@Xbox boss Chris Charla wrote.

“This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.

“Of course, it’s up to game developers to support this feature, and Xbox Live players will always have the option of choosing to play only with other Xbox Live players.”

“Expect to see Rocket League cross-network play working on Xbox One and PC later this spring, with information regarding other platforms coming soon,” an update from developer Psyonix has said.

Do you think PS4 + Xbox One gamers will ever be able to play nicely together?

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
