Perfect Job: Get paid £9,246 to travel and drink beer for 4 months

Sorry before you get too excited this is in the US, but I’ve heard getting a Visa is possible 😉 Also, this job may return in a few months but currently they’re part way through the current set of interns.

World of Beer, a chain of craft beer pubs (known as Taverns in the US) currently have 4 paid internships, with the aim to travel, drink beer and document it but best of all they’re getting paid $14,000 (£9,246) for the 4 months! Making it possibly the best job in the world.

The current interns will soon be finishing the 4 months so we’re expecting a new set of intern positions to appear!

The original job posting stated that interns will be required to be “hopping from brewery to brewery, WOB tavern to WOB tavern, to explore beer for themselves and share their stories with WOB drinkers across the country,”

You don’t already need to be a professional beer snob to apply, in fact it is more of a social media internship than anything else, so the ability to photograph well and tell a decent story is pretty much the only thing you need to be able to do.

What sort of photos are they taking?

Love at first sight. #lifeofadrinkitinern

It was a long day, but well worth the travel to visit and film @brewdogofficial today! #Scotland #craftbeer

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
