This 14 year old has made more than you and I will make in 10 years in just 1 year (£2,000,000)

Harvey Millington from Taunton, Somerset isn’t your average 14-year-old kid, he setup a business (in 2015) selling tax/MOT reminder discs for £4 each after he saw a gap in the market, less than two months into trading, he was receiving up to 400 orders per week.

He eventually walked away with £100K profit, of which £40,000 was used to buy a piece of land (3 acres) for Glamping (posh camping), that same piece of land was then part of some land that a housing development company needed to buy as they had bought surrounding property.

“The neighbouring farmers were happy to sell up and they now needed our land so they could start building.

“I was not sure how much they were going to offer for the land, but they came up with £2million. It was too good to turn down.”

“It’s a massive amount, especially for someone at my age.”

His father, Howard, told the Sun:

“I’ve taught him you have to work hard to get on in life. He is a grounded lad and is just a great businessman.”

Harvey has said his dream is to become a policeman.

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
