Freshers revamp their halls of residence

Abby Bozeman and Lindy Goodson rocked up to their halls of residence at The University of Mississippi this week and obviously were disgusted with their room quality so roped in family to improve it.

It went from this:

dad

A rather standard looking room with all the mod cons like plastic covered mattresses and stupidly high beds with desk space underneath, ready for a nice head smash during deadline week!

To this:

Still with the same stupidly high beds but now covered in tons of fabric that presumably will soon start to smell like old popcorn from their built in microwave between their beds!

Lindy had this to say:

“It’s really competitive,”
“So I was like, we definitely have to make ours look good. A lot of them here are done up.”
“We’re living here for a year,”
“We can reuse stuff, and my younger sister is going to reuse a lot of stuff.”
“Some of them were like, ‘I can’t believe you painted the walls,’ but we didn’t!”

Of course, their posts went viral on Twitter, forcing Lindy to turn her Twitter private due to the sheer amount of retweets, replies and parody accounts setup….

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
