Professor Pigment (Graffiti Artist) turns out to be a student who has just given his parents the best graduation present ever (paid off their mortgage)

Professor Pigment has revealed his true identity and it turns he is an ordinary student (well recent graduate), the man behind the famous street art / graffiti is actually Andy Evans, a 21-year-old student who was studying graphic design at Staffordshire University

A documentary about the work of Professor Pigment was shown at Stoke Film Theatre in June, this showed the impact he has had on the community, at the end of the film his identity was revealed.

“It does feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders that people now know who I am.

“A lot of people were talking about the good things going on in Stoke-on-Trent and that prompted me to start doing the work and I hope people do feel inspired by it.”

His graduation:

Andy took his parents David & Jane to his graduation at the University of Staffordshire last week, after the ceremony he told them that he had paid off the last 8 years of their mortgage, as a thank you to his hard-working parents supporting him:

“My parents, Jane and Dave, have always worked flat out to make sure the bills were paid and we didn’t go without.

“Five years ago, there was a period where it was all getting a bit on top of them and I wanted to help out. I thought, ‘there’s more to life than working a 9-5’.

“I decided that if I could pay off the mortgage that would give them some breathing space and they could enjoy the more important things in life.”

“Since I was a little kid, my mum and dad have taught me the power of hard work.”

“From my mum having three jobs to make sure we could do things together as a family, to my dad working flat out to ensure food was on the table and the bills were paid.”

“At graduation, I was able to finally do something I have spent the last five years trying to achieve – paying off the rest of their mortgage.”

The note read:

“Today is a good day for our family, not just because of graduation but because I can finally do something I’ve spent five years trying to achieve”

“I’ve paid off the rest of our mortgage.”

Although, I’m not sure it’s actually possible to pay someone else’s mortgage off, unless his father was in on it, he had obviously saved the money to pay for it which is a better job than most have done whilst at University. I wonder if he is completely debt free?
