Which money ‘saving’ technique would you love to try?

Which money ‘saving’ technique would you love to try?

a) The Ben & Jerry’s Lock. We’ve never seen £4.00 worth of premium cream guzzled so quickly until these ‘pint’ sized tubs arrived in supermarkets. This lock could save you a small fortune especially if you have an ice-cream fiend in the house however at £28 you will be waiting a long time before you see a return on your investment. http://amzn.to/1pj6U0W

b) Freezing your credit card – On average people shopping with a credit card will buy 12-18% more items than if they had cash!
By freezing your card, it’s out of sight and out of mind and the 10 minutes of thawing time will give you some time to think twice about whether you actually do need that pair of Jimmy Choo shoes…

c) 14p pasta lunch – It’s pretty obvious, every time you make a meal make it twice as big, prepare it into lunch sized portions and freeze. If only the people at lunchtime in M&S got the memo, move out my way with your bloody £3 pasta pots! Instructions on http://10ws.co/1lKryCb

d) ReGrowing your own veg…..
Cut the bottom of a lettuce off and place it in water, it will grow a new lettuce. #MindBlown.

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
