How to save money on the Philips Perfect Draft system + beer kegs (includes BeerHawk)

Buying a machine:

The RRP of the machine = £250

  1. Generally, the cheapest way of buying a new machine is to go here and add one of the bundles to the basket (they often are reduced to £199, if they’re higher than that you can get a referral code, e.g. PDRESWMJGRA5KAC which should knock them down in price.
  2. Also, check eBay / Facebook marketplace / Shpock for used machines
  3. Costco sometimes stock the machine
  4. Amazon UK sometimes have the machines in stock but expect to pay full price
  5. Amazon France often have the machines and this should work out at about £212 delivered (including all import/VAT fees etc), just use Google Chrome and it will automatically translate the page for you, you can normally select whether to pay in local currency (i.e. Euro) or in £GBP, you’re normally better off buying in Euros and using a fee-free UK debit card (e.g. Monzo/Curve etc to ensure no hidden currency fees)
  6. Saveur Biere – They sell at decent prices (Euros), however, it clicks and collect only (and they’re in France, link to Google Maps)

Buying the kegs:

When you buy kegs remember: Companies like BeerHawk pay £5 in credit for every returned keg + you get 5% in reward points for every £1 you spend on the kegs etc

  1. Buy in bulk, it’s as simple as that, BeerHawk often have a buy 3 or 6 kegs and save 15% promotion running
  2. There are also several exclusive discounts codes available for BeerHawk on Facebook Groups such as Perfect Draft Keg Tips (currently it gives 15% off any order of 3 kegs).
  3. Saveur Biere are a French seller of loads of beer brands – They sell at decent prices (Euros), however, it appears to be click and collect only (and they’re in France, link to Google Maps)
  4. Bier Wein are a German seller, you have to add delivery (4 kegs for €23.90) + €5 for each keg deposit (extra tip, use Monzo / Curve etc to pay the Mastercard exchange rate on your order). Note: The website is quite old but it does work.

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
