The perfect plan if you’ve bought a joint holiday with your partner and then you split

The perfect plan if you’ve bought a joint holiday with your partner and then you split

Yay! He did it! Remember the guy that purchased around the world tickets for him and his girlfriend (top right image), then they split up and he was stuck with a ticket in the name of ‘Elizabeth Gallagher’ and no way of getting a refund.

He took to reddit asking if there was a Canadian with the same name that fancied going on a world trip with a stranger and amazingly he found a NEW Elizabeth Gallagher (bottom images) from Nova Scotia who is 23 and up for it (but not in that way, she has a boyfriend who isn’t that pleased about it….) #awkward.

They leave New York on December 21 will then travel to Milan, Prague, Paris, Bangkok, and New Dehli before returning to Toronto on January 8.

They even managed to scoop free accommodation (separate rooms) along the way thanks to the publicity of it all!

Would you do it?

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
