Schools can now provide every eligible child (those that normally get free school meals) with a weekly shopping voucher worth £15 to spend at supermarkets while schools are closed due to coronavirus.
The vouchers can be spent on food at a range of shops including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose and M&S, with the Department working to get more shops to join the scheme as soon as possible.
If you or one of your family/friends is part of the 1.5 million people that are extremely vulnerable (due to having one of the medical conditions listed) they/you have to register on this page to receive a food package/additional support and then to contact your GP / clinician afterwards.
It goes without saying that this is ONLY for people that meet the exact criteria (2nd link below gives this info), so please triple check the list if you're unsure.
If you think you fall into one of the categories of extremely vulnerable people listed above and you have not received a letter by Sunday 29 March 2020 or been contacted by your GP, you should discuss your concerns with your GP or hospital clinician.
