Three mobile extends ‘Feel at home’ offer to 42 countries, allowing data/calls/texts to be used as if you were at home with no extra costs!

Currently Three mobile allow their customers to use their mobile phone as if they were still in the UK when they travel to: Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Macau, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

All data/calls/texts come out of your normal allowance which on our last trip abroad saved us £54, for a rough idea on prices if you were to use 2GB data whilst abroad with another UK phone company you would be looking at up to £84 in extra costs, the savings from Three continues to grow with some people saving just shy of £500 on a two week holiday this year!

Considering you can get all-you-can-eat data allowance for £23 p/m this is a superb way of saving money on data + you get 30GB hotspot data + £50 Amazon voucher.

What are the new countries?

Amazingly from September you will also be able to use your phone in: Belgium, Bulgaria, Channel Islands (Jersey & Guernsey), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia!

There must be a cap/limit?

Nope, if you’ve got unlimited data in the UK you will have the same across the 42 countries. Proof below from Michelle a 10ways user, she went to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy and Spain and saved a MASSIVE £16,569 on her bill!

I have unlimited data and used google maps to find my way around places during a month in aus & Nz – skyped n kept in touch with friends n family at home etc – watched a film one night in a hostel via 4g etc

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
