Sad news for those using these older Nest Protect and Nest Smart Thermostats, we had hoped they would change their mind but it seems not, both of these products we've used for well over 10 years and talked about on here and our website many times, largely we've all loved the experience but sadly they've been given the kiss of death by Google (the owners of Nest), details below:
🔥 Nest Protect (Smart Smoke/CO2 Alarms)
New Nest Protects will not be built, existing ones will continue to receive security updates and continue to work as they always have through their expiration dates (10 years roughly from purchase). 🥵 Nest Smart Thermostats
Starting October 25, 2025, Nest Learning Thermostat (1st gen, 2011), Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd gen, 2012), and Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd gen, Europe version, 2014) will no longer receive software updates. Alongside this you will no longer be able to control them remotely from your phone or with Google Assistant, but can still adjust the temperature and modify schedules directly on the thermostat.
