ad / Big News for Existing and New Investment Customers Today

We’ve talked about investing a few times on here, but today’s news was too good not to share. The main investment platform we use just announced they are reducing their fees (for most people). This is a genuine shock move, especially in 2025 when we’ve all become so used to costs going up!

While there are plenty of "free" or low-cost 'challenger' apps out there (we list the best ones below), we stick with this provider for three specific reasons:

Service: You can pick up the phone and speak to a real person, we rarely use it, but we definitely sleep better knowing our life savings are in an account with a human at the end of a phone should something go wrong, lots of the challenger apps fail here and this is reflected in their Trustpilot scores.

Value: It’s often cheaper for portfolios over £100k, appreciate this is a nice problem to have for those people, but once you hit this sort of level, even the 'free' apps become more expensive to manage and certainly riskier if something were to go wrong.

Trust: They’ve been managing money for over 30 years + they provide access to a bunch of investment advice/insights etc

- Cost of £3.99/trade or £9.99/trade for international
- Up to £100,000 (previously was £75K) portfolio size
- Either invest your money yourself (e.g. into funds which allows you to diversify the risk) or go with a managed approach where an expert does it for you, they provide a great access to investment information as well so you can learn more.

What are the cheaper/free alternatives:

Note: In short, the other providers listed below make their money from you in other ways, the company aboves makes their money by charging you a monthly fee and some of what the free/cheap providers use:

https://10ws.co/43DX690 - They provide a great option and overall they're pretty great, they however get a lower Trustpilot score and slightly fewer options to invest in compared with the other site but do provide a free share for new customers (terms apply). No employer contributions option for SIPP.

Trading212 - Again a decent cheap option, however, they don't provide a SIPP (pension) account currently.

https://10ws.co/48H9Fnz (aff ad) - much newer provider, for a portfolio under £100K it's a good option, you will also get a bonus between £20 & £100 when funding your account, very slightly inferior Trustpilot score to the main post and no drawdown option for SIPP.

Vanguard - For people with smaller accounts it's far less affordable now meaning £48-£375 yearly fees + Fund management cost (0.06%-0.79%).

___

Terms apply.

Important information: As investment values can go down as well as up, you may not get back all of the money you invest. Currency changes affect international investments, and this can decrease their value in sterling. If you're unsure about investing, please speak to an authorised financial adviser. Other fees and trading charges may apply, separate to the monthly fee.
