Looks like some good news for those with electric cars, Octopus Energy has announced that their Intelligent Octopus Go Tariff will drop to 5.5p/kWh overnight (6 hours off peak) from April 1st.

Edit: For some existing IOG users, it will be as little as 3.49p/kWh!

Meaning the most popular EV (with a real world range of over 250 miles) in the UK, the Tesla Model 3 RWD will cost you ~£10.04* to fill up from 0%-100% at home in one single charging session (of course, the reality is most people would split a big charge like this (done automatically) across 2 days to maximise the 6 hours and therefore it would probably only cost ~£3.63!

*based on a real-life example of charging overnight for 9.4 hours with a Tesla Model 3 RWD (Highland) 60kWh, where 6 hours would be at 5.5p/kWh and the rest would be 32.31p/kWh, includes 10% charging loss on a 7kW charger (often forgotten), it would be significantly cheaper if you split the charge across 2 days (where all ~66kWh would cost 5.5/kWh).

Seen the news? Someone who purchased a ticket in Bexley, London has a winning £10.6 million lottery ticket, but they haven't claimed it, and they only have until April 2nd to claim it! More info in comments - p.s. buying National Lottery products is NOT a good way to have money (we've tested it).

Compensation payments of £15 to £50 are currently being offered to Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland customers impacted by last week’s app failure. While the banks are beginning to confirm exactly what data was visible to others, anyone affected should be pushing for a formal apology and financial redress for the hassle and concern caused (if they feel that way).

If you are worried that your financial details were exposed, here is how to handle your communication with them:

___

Submit your request through official channels, such as the in-app support feature or their dedicated complaints email address, to ensure a clear record.

Ask for a comprehensive breakdown of the specific data involved, such as account balances, transaction history, statements, payee details, or card-related information.

Request the exact timeline of the incident, seeking clarity on when it happened, how long it lasted, and whether your data was actually viewed or merely potentially visible.

Require written confirmation as to whether any of your personal or banking data was shown, exposed, or made accessible to another customer or a third party.

Inquire about the specific technical steps they have taken to secure your account and the changes made to prevent this from happening again.

Ask if there are any immediate actions you should take to further protect yourself and ensure your family's financial security.

State explicitly that you want the matter handled as a formal complaint so that it is officially logged and tracked.

Request fair compensation if the situation has caused you stress, wasted your time, or resulted in significant inconvenience.
