1) Reading: Check your local library (they often include e-books), also potentially find local reading groups or free book swap locations.
2) Geocaching, it sounds crazy but you basically walk around hunting for hidden boxes from a set of clues; there is a massive network of them out there. It's a great way to explore a new area & increase your walking.
3) Birdwatching, you would think it's only for retired people but I tell you what it gives you a good buzz when you find something rare/beautiful, use the free Merlin Bird ID app for identification help and find local bird sighting areas to start.
4) Photography (with your existing phone) - There are endless free courses online and whilst photography can be extremely expensive when you start buying cameras, you can do a lot with a modern smartphone that you already own.
5) Stretching / Pilates / Yoga etc, with endless YouTube videos available, this is a great way to keep your body mobile and healthy.
6) Walking / Hiking - Big caveat here is that it can become expensive gear wise but your first set of walking boots doesn't need to cost a fortune and going out is great for your mind and body (just ensure you follow safety precautions so you don't hurt yourself, get into trouble or cause damage).
7) Knitting and crocheting - Very low cost to start and endless free plans and tutorials online, wool costs vary but you can pick up used wool from charity shops or others in the hobby.
8.) Start an allotment - whether it's in your garden or a council run site (if you can ever get space), growing your own food is not only a good way to understand food but also appreciate it, it also gets you out into nature. You might also end up with excess food you can sell/swap.
9) Free Outdoor Gym Equipment - Most parks offer something and whilst you of course can pay for a dedicated gym, it's a nice combo when combined with going for a run/walk etc.
10) Volunteering - It should be very rewarding, will get you meeting new people, and it's always a win for your CV.
