Elsa McAlonan, beauty reporter for the Daily Mail tested Aldi’s new ‘Lacura Caviar Illumination Day Cream’ which costs £6.99 for 50ml and compared it with a product that is very similar (in both looks & ingredients) but this 50 ml pot of the La Prairie equivalent – Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Sheer costs a crazy £292!
From her 4 week test with one cream on each side of her face she concluded:
£6.99 Aldi Version > Very light texture, pure white cream, is easily absorbed and can be worn underneath foundation without any streaking.
It smells nice, too, which is always a bonus, and there was no fishy odour (this point is mentioned due to the fact it contains caviar extract). Wrinkles/Lines less noticeable, It is deeply moisturising.
£292 La Prairie Version > Light honey colour, although it has a light texture, you don’t need to use much: the pot will last a long time. Wrinkles/Lines less noticeable more so than the Aldi version, the skin around my jaw on the left side does already feel a bit firmer [unlike the Aldi version]. The La Prairie cream has a firming complex that stimulates the production of collagen – after eight weeks, there will be significant lifting in the cheek area and jawline.
Aldi version goes on sale Sunday 4th October and supposedly
