Customers may continue to use their notebook computer without the battery installed, by connecting the notebook to external power.”
HP has recalled selected Notebooks sold worldwide between March 2013 and August 2015, should you be affected, HP will provide a replacement battery at no extra cost.

Just remember that even if your laptop didn’t come with an affected battery originally you might have had one installed after a repair/warranty claim in the past, so it’s best to check.
