Aldi beats the competition by £8.52 in comparison shop

The Grocer’s weekly pricing survey doesn’t normally include Aldi in the findings but this week it was included as a guest and saw a near 18% reduction in cost compared with 2nd place (Asda).

The magazine said:

“Guest retailer Aldi scored a dominant victory in this week’s Grocer 33 pricing survey.” Aldi offered the cheapest price for 32 of the 33 items on our list.”

If it had not been for Aldi, Asda would have won (again), with its total of £47.55 which was £1.67 cheaper than third place Morrisons.

Amazingly when you compare 1st and last place there is a £25 difference!

Aldi £39.03
Asda £47.55
Morrisons £49.22
Tesco £51.29
Sainsbury’s £52.98
Waitrose £64.40

Why would you NOT shop at Aldi?

  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
