New way to get an extra 2% discount on Amazon

Amazon has launched a new discount for Prime Members, presumably to help with mass orders being placed for Black Friday Week (see top 100 deals here).

At checkout, you can now opt for No-Rush Delivery on selected Amazon-delivered products, giving you an automatic 2% discount on the order. This works across a wide range of items sold directly by Amazon.

Although the discount isn’t massive, it can be a handy extra saving, particularly for upcoming Black Friday or Christmas shopping. The offer is exclusive to Prime members. We tested it on an Apple Macbook Air and got an extra ~£18 off, a Bottle of Southern Comfort for a 34p saving and a Ninja Knife Block to save £2.20!

To find items with the possible extra saving, ensure you’re logged into your Prime Account and sort by products Sold and Dispatched by Amazon.

Here is what Amazon says about the promotion:

If you don’t need your order right away, you can choose FREE No-Rush Delivery and receive an instant discount. The No-Rush delivery date is provided during checkout. By selecting No-Rush shipping, you’re helping us prioritize our fastest deliveries for customers with urgent needs. The discount applies only to eligible items indicated in the offer at checkout.

At checkout then select this option:

It’s unclear if this discount will continue after Black Friday Week (see top 100 deals here).

Be a financial rockstar and share this with your friends, family and co-workers to maximise savings:

Important things to remember with everything we post:

  • If you earn over your personal allowance (currently £12,570 a year) HMRC need to get their % cut (even if the money is in cash or from another country)
  • If you’re working for yourself / earning an income on the side you need to let HMRC know – There are numerous benefits but also some drawbacks
  • You need to always ensure whatever you’re doing is legal and not hurting anyone else – be careful and always think twice
  • Some income streams may require you to have DBS check, licence, insurance or qualifications before you can start to profit from it, do your research.
  • Be careful that any additional income doesn’t compromise your studies or main income/job
  • If you work for a company check your contract, if you don’t inform them you’re working on other side projects outside of work they may have grounds to ownership on this work
